New 2014 ACA Health Plans will cover pre-existing medical conditions!

The Texas Health Insurance Risk Pool has announced that it will be closing at the end of December 2013.

Update.........11/22/2013:
The Texas Risk Pool has announced that you can KEEP your Tx Risk Pool policy until the end of March, 2014.
This will give you time to view accurate quotes for NEW 2014 policies.....and make the BEST choice for your new 2014 health insurance coverage.

Pre-existing medical conditions will be covered immediately if you buy a new ACA-compliant (Obamacare) health insurance plan (policy) for 2014.

Your monthly premium rates could be reduced in 2014.....if you can qualify for premium tax credits (subsidies from the govt).

~~~
The most-reliable rates (right now) are at BCBS-Tx here:
Just run-a-quote & look for the Premium Tax Credit Estimator.
We are not getting accurate rates from the ACA (govt) system yet.
We don't expect that system to be functioning right until sometime in December (2013).
But, you can get a very-good estimate at the link above.
If you'll "save" at least 1 of your quotes:
- You won't need to re-type all of your info again (date-of-birth, etc).
- You can log-back-in later....and get instant quotes.
- You can even email your favorite quotes to yourself (for later review).
Our Instant Online Health Insurance Quote Engine will:
- Compare all of the Texas health insurance plans for you side-by-side
- Retrieve your tax credits (from the ACA govt system)
- Apply your tax credits
......Deduct the tax credits (and show you the final/reduced price)
- Let you pick-a-plan & apply online.....quickly!
It probably won't be able to retrieve accurate figures from the govt system until December (2013).
We also have a blog (with lots of details) about the new ACA (Obamacare) plans, prices & rules here:
For those who are losing their coverage from the Texas Health Insurance Risk Pool:
- Be sure to ask for an effective date of 4/1/14 (or earlier)
- Apply for your new ACA-compliant coverage before March 15th
- Pay for your new coverage with your application
.....The ACA law (rules) say that certain applicants (who'll qualify for tax credits) must pay their part of the 1st monthly premium before your coverage effective date (or coverage will not be activated).
Also important:
- If you are married, you must file a joint tax return in order to qualify for the premium tax credits (monthly govt subsidies...to help lower your monthly premiums).
- You can buy a separate ACA health insurance policy, but it's often best to buy one family policy....for many reasons.
- If you are eligible for "affordable" group coverage (from your spouse's employer), you cannot qualify for the premium tax credits.
The new laws are complex!
So, ask for guidance when you have questions.
Our blog (at above link) will answer many of your questions.
Those who are losing Tx Risk Pool coverage can keep their current doctor (& hospital)....in most cases.... if you'll pick a BCBS-Tx CHOICE PPO Plan.
Here's our BlueCross link again:
BlueCross is also offering ADVANTAGE Plans.....that are cheaper.
But, the ADVANTAGE Plans are HMO Plans!
The HMO network will:
- Be MUCH smaller (than the CHOICE PPO network)
- NOT offer coverage out-of-network!!!
.....except for serious emergencies
If you buy one of the cheaper ADVANTAGE HMO Plans & you don't use the doctors (& hospitals) IN the ADVANTAGE HMO network:
- You'll pay the FULL price (for medical treatment)
.....You won't get a BlueCross discount
- Your expenses will not apply towards your deductible
- Everything will be out-of-pocket..........NO insurance coverage out-of-network!
.....Except for serious emergencies
Here's a link to the BlueCross networks:
